The Position

 

The Product Owner will be the primary team member responsible for defining Stories and prioritizing the Team Backlog so as to streamline the execution of program priorities.  The PO will be responsible for maintaining conceptual and technical integrity of the Features or components the team is responsible for.
 

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Creatation and maintanace of the Product Backlog.
  • Prioritizes and sequences the Backlog according to business value or ROI
  • Assists with the elaboration of Epics, Themes and Features into user stories that are granular enough to be achieved in a single sprint.
  • Conveys the Vision and Goals at the beginning of every Release and Sprint
  • Represents the customer, interfaces and engages the customer
  • Participates in the daily Scrums, Sprint Planning Meetings, Release Planning, Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives
  • Inspects the product progress at the end of every Sprint and has complete authority to accept or reject work done
  • Can change the course of the project at the end of every Sprint
  • Terminates a Sprint if it is determined that a drastic change in direction is required
  • Maintains relationships with the business and the client to understand the current and changing needs
  • Identify and maintain the KPIs need to support the team and assigned product

Position Requirements/ Competencies

  • Experience of performing role of a SCRUM product owner
  • Excellent problem solving
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to write concise specifications
  • Use of a ticket tracking tool e.g. Jira, Visual Studio
  • Understanding of Web technology and digital platforms
  • Excellent time management and planning skills
  • Ability to visualise and describe complex workflows and user flows
  • Ability to prioritise and group features
  • Ability to work with UI/UX resources to develop wireframes and mock-ups

Education and Relevant Work Experiences

 

  • At least three (3) years of experience assisting with development and execution of a product strategy for a project using service design methods and one or more Agile software development methodologies.
  • At least three (3) years of experience providing design and delivery services.
  • A current/valid Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification
